Senior Financial Planner – Private Ancillary Funds (PAFs) / Philanthropic Advisory
Sydney, NSW

  • Ref: 135239
  • Salary: (not disclosed)

A rare and strategically significant opportunity has become available for an experienced Financial Planner to build and lead a specialist Private Ancillary Fund (PAF) offering within a highly regarded boutique private-client advisory firm based in the Sydney CBD. This is an exceptional role for a planner with strong technical depth, a passion for philanthropy structures, and experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. You will play a central role in establishing and growing a new division dedicated to PAF structuring, administration, investment oversight and philanthropic strategy.

The firm is known for its long-standing relationships with private families, entrepreneurs, business owners and sophisticated investors. It operates a highly discreet, relationship-driven model, offering taxation, wealth, and specialist advisory services through a close-knit, senior team.

The Opportunity

Beginning in Q1 of 2026, the firm is launching a dedicated PAF advisory and administration service for its existing high-net-worth client base. As the inaugural hire for this initiative, you will:

  • Work directly with the directors to design and establish the PAF offering

  • Manage the creation and ongoing administration of PAFs for existing clients

  • Provide strategic advice on philanthropic giving, tax structuring, estate planning and intergenerational wealth matters

  • Develop processes, governance and investment oversight models consistent with ATO and ACNC requirements

  • Contribute to the expansion of the service by promoting it internally and externally (in a discreet, relationship-based manner)

  • Play a lead role in shaping how the division evolves over the next 3–5 years

For the right candidate, this role offers a clear pathway to equity in the new division — potentially immediate for someone who can bring PAF clients or referrals with them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish the firm’s PAF advisory service from the ground up

  • Manage end-to-end setup, structuring and compliance requirements for Private Ancillary Funds

  • Provide strategic philanthropic advice to HNW/UHNW clients

  • Oversee investment governance and coordination with external advisers

  • Ensure all ATO, ACNC and trustee obligations are met

  • Prepare and review annual distribution plans and reporting requirements

  • Work closely with the firm’s tax, wealth and private-client teams

  • Gradually expand the service to new and referred clients

  • Assist in designing scalable processes and best-practice documentation as the division grows

About You

  • Experienced Financial Planner with strong exposure to HNW or private-client advisory

  • Genuine interest in philanthropy, PAFs, intergenerational wealth and strategic giving

  • Solid understanding of estate-planning structures, charitable trusts and tax optimisation

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Able to work autonomously while collaborating closely with senior directors

  • Professional, discreet and comfortable in a high-trust, boutique environment

  • CFP or equivalent highly regarded

Candidates who bring existing PAF clients or philanthropic relationships may move directly into an equity or profit-share arrangement.

Why This Role?

  • Build a new specialist division within a respected boutique private-client firm

  • Work with high-quality clients and long-standing private family relationships

  • Significant equity pathway — with the potential for early partnership

  • Opportunity to design a specialist offering with full support from senior principals

  • High-impact work shaping the philanthropic strategies of successful Australians

  • CBD location, discreet culture, and a genuinely long-term career pathway
